Sustainable development

Insuring solutions for accumulated and newly generated radioactive waste management, "NO RWM" performs the functions of a state-owned industrial environmental enterprise with the key goal of RAW final isolation in recognition of any potential risk to human health and environment.

In its activities "NO RWM" is guided by the principles of sustainable development and contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations by the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom".

The enterprise participates in the Federal Programme "Ensuring Nuclear and Radiation Safety for 2016-2020 and for the period up to 2035" which sets direction for the development of infrastructure for the management of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel in the Russian Federation.

The areas of "NO RWM" operation are considered in the Russian taxonomy of "green" projects (criteria for sustainable development projects approved by the Russian Federation Government Decree No. 1587):

  • Liquidation of legacy substances constituting damage to the environment;
  • Storage and/or disposal of the atomic energy industry wastes

"NO RWM" operates strictly in line with the requirements of the current environmental legislation of Russian Federation as well as Unified Industrial Policy of the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom" in the field of Sustainable Development.

"NO RWM" takes into account the interests of all stakeholders, promotes economic and social development in the regions of its presence, and provides favorable working conditions and professional development for the personnel of the enterprise.
